MGBC Kids

The goal of MGBC children’s ministries is to help children learn to know, love and follow Jesus. We also seek to equip children to serve Jesus right where they are now and also in the future as they grow into teenagers and adults. We do this through a strong Children’s Church program and Bible-focused Sunday School classes on Sunday mornings, a variety of mid-week opportunities on Wednesdayevenings as well as several kid-focused events throughout the year.

For the safety and security of all children we require child check-in by an adult using the computer stations in the lobby. Children will receive a sticker with their name and parents will receive a pick-up sticker. Parent stickers are required at dismissal time.

Sunday MORNINGS

Sunday School

During the Sunday School Hour, there is nursery care for infants and toddlers. Structured Sunday School classes are available for children from age 2 through Grade 5.  The classes are organized by age or grade. The kids will learn in a small group setting with teachers who love the Lord and His Word. Using "Bible Studies for Life" curriculum, adults will guide the kids to dig into God's word and apply the principles learned. You can download the app here to access resources from home.

Kindergarten-5th Grade

For older children (kindergarten through 5th grade) we offer Children's Church on Sunday mornings during the worship service. Children typically attend the first 30 minutes of the first adult worship service and then are dismissed to Children's Church prior to the sermon. All children will be escorted to the 2nd floor educational wing where they divide into older children (Grades 3-5) and younger children (Grades K-2). Beginning in September the children will use the "Superbook Academy" curriculum to guide their exploration of the Bible. You can access some of the resources from home by visiting http://us-en.superbook.cbn.com/.

Nursery/Pre-K

During the Worship Service, nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers. A pager system is used to make sure that parents can be reached in the event of any problems. Children ages 3-4 can attend Pre-School Children’s Church which is held in the pre-k room of the nursery wing. At Pre-K Church, children will listen to an age-appropriate Bible story, enjoy a snack, perhaps complete a craft and have plenty of time to play!

Wednesday Night Kids' Clubs

Kids' Clubs are held from 7:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesdays running from September through April. The programs are open to all children from the community as well as the church family. Parents should accompany their children into the main lobby and check in using the computer system. Children are invited to participate in the following programs depending on their age level:

Ages 3 & 4 + Grade K: Buddies Club

This year in Buddies, boys and girls are working through the “Jesus Storybook Bible” curriculum. Using animated videos, the children are learning how every story in the Old Testament and New Testament points to one person: Jesus! The children also learn verses, sing, make crafts, play games, have snacks and have activity nights. The evening is split into large group times and smaller group activities.

1st-3rd Grade Girls' Club: SMM

This club for younger girls emphasizes Bible teaching and fun girl things!  Bible study nights use the "What's in the Bible" curriculum to guide discussion. As we wrap up our final year in studying the Bible chronologically, we will focus on the New Testament this year. Other nights will include crafts, games, missions, and special guests.

4th-5th Grade Girls' Club: Amigas

The older girls have a Bible lesson, memorize verses, make creative crafts, have fun activities, and spend lots of quality time with their leaders and other girls their age.

1st-5th Grade Boys' Club: MIT (Men In Training)

The boys' clubs split onto groups based on age. All boys start and end in their grade level classroom and spend time meeting with a leader and sharing prayer requests and getting to know each other. The first two weeks of the month the boys meet in grade level groups and study the Bible using a variety of resources and activities led by male leaders. The third week will be game night, either playing group games, board games, or gym night at the Park. Weeks four and five will provide time for missions speakers and special guests who will share with the boys how to be a man who serves God through their chosen occupation.

Special Events

At MGBC we love families and we strive to provide special events to create memories and experiences for your family. Some of the events held throughout the year include:

Pinewood Derby

Kids have an opportunity to make a wooden car using a kit and race in a traditional Pinewood Derby race. Teens and Adults can compete in the "open" race with lots of freedom to build and design your own car.

FX Nights

FX or Family Experiences are held three times per year on Wednesdayevenings. A light meal is served at 6pm followed by a family activity. Some past activities included a scavenger hunt through the church, Christmas caroling, movie night, and a progressive meal. On FX nights, regular Wednesday night programming is suspended and all age groups participate as a family.

Light Up The Night

This outreach event is held on the Martinsburg Trick-or-Treat night. Families or small group set up at local homes and distribute food, candy, and play games with neighborhood folks as they are out trick-or-treating.

Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Date Nights

Rotating years, these events are special nights for parents to "date" their child of the opposite gender. Father/Daughter night is a dress up semi-formal dinner and program. Mother/Son night is an outdoor picnic with games.

VBS/VBX

Each summer, typically the last week of July, our church hosts Vacation Bible School in the evenings on Monday-Friday. We have a different theme each year and invite kids age 4 - 5th grade to participate in Bible lessons, crafts, games, snacks, and missions time. Middle school students participate in Extreme VBS (VBX) and play group games, have Bible time, and enjoy hanging out together.

Kids Korale

Kids age 4 through 5th grade are invited to participate in a musical production twice a year (Dec and April). Practices are held from 6-7pm on Wednesday nights.
